Commissioning Engineer (m/f/d)

We are currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer (m/f/d) in the Farmington Hills.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Continuous development and optimization of honing process
• Perform acceptance runs for Gehring honing machines at Gehring facilities and at customer’s site
• Provide support for Gehring honing machines and process related tasks in-house and at customer’s site

Primary Objectives

• Commissioning and qualification of new machines
• Respond effectively to service calls
• Develop and refine workpiece-specific honing processes

Specific Responsibilities of the position

• Commissioning and process installation of Honing machines and equipment: Achieve and maintain required quality and capability
• Execute machine build, alignment, and service tasks when needed
• Support Gehring internally as well as with customers in process related tasks to achieve mutual goals

Required Skills and Abilities

• Mechanical background. Machining or Machine set-up experience preferred. Setting up bore gauges, indicators etc. Other mechanical disciplines also beneficial.
• Effective communicator- Can effectively communicate, in a professional manner, internally as well as to customers through email, phone conference, and face-to-face interactions.
• Ability to learn and persevere through a training itinerary that will include machine building, machine alignment, tooling assembly/repair, abrasive mounting, abrasive selection, honing process development, mechanical and process troubleshooting, among others.
• Willingness to travel to domestic and international assignments. Must have a current passport. No travel restrictions.
