Debug engineer

The Controls Debug Engineer will perform all activities associated with commissioning new machines and troubleshooting machines in the field. Clear inter-departmental communication is necessary, as are frequent interactions with customers. The individual must also provide accurate and high quality work with minimal supervision.

Your Functions

• Performs electrical engineering services as necessary to design, install, support, train, and repair Gehring equipment
• Troubleshoot functionality failures
• Final commissioning of the machine drives system to ensure that the machine functions per customer specification
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations
• Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing relating results as needed

Your Profile

• Design and analytical skills
• Knowledgeable in Siemens Step7 PLC programming
• Knowledgeable in Siemens Distributed Safety PLC programming
• Knowledgeable in Allen Bradley PLC programming
• Good understanding of communication networks and implementation
• Knowledgeable with motion control devices such as servo motors and controllers
• Knowledgeable with industrial I/O devices and networks
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to remain flexible throughout the delivery of program to accommodate for changes in scope and direction
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to leverage previous experience to solve technical problems
• Communication proficiency

Work Environment

• This job operates in an indoor industrial shop floor setting.

Required Education and Experience

• Two-year degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant area such as computer engineering, or 2 years’ controls debug experience.
